Spring is on the way in!
Good day to all.
Even though it feels like Spring (my favorite season) I know more winter is on its way. In fact tonight it is to be in the 25 degree temp range and darn on me for even thinking about it.
Hope you have met Joy and now a new member of my team is Brittany. Brittany is my front desk manager taking Penny’s place. We hated to see Penny leave for full time work but Brittany will be a wonderful asset to our team. Welcome Brittany.
March brings in the Hinman Dental Meeting to Atlanta once again. It is the second largest meeting of its kind in the country and it has excellent speakers and lots of new ideas and products coming down the pipe line. We will be sure to come back from it brimming with ideas for you our patients. We are always putting you first!
TIPS FOR YOU:
Drinking tea every day may be good for your heart. People who drank 1-3 cups of tea per day were less likely to have a cardiovascular event over an 11 year period than those who did not drink tea. Tea drinkers were less likely to have calcium buildup in the heart coronary arteries. Let’s all drink some tea!
Do not plant your spring flowers until after Easter! Never seems to fail…warm weather gives you the flower planting bug and boom, in comes the cold. Do not be tempted. Restraint is the word of the month!

I will begin by wishing you a joyous holiday season with much to be thankful for!
I hope you all have had the chance to see the lovely artwork my wife Kathy has put in the office. Take a tour the next time you are in. It is for sale if you might need a Christmas present.
Here a few ideas I have read about recently:
The kitchen sponge is the dirtiest item in the house. The more you use it the more it’s family of germs spread. It can be disinfected by zapping it in the microwave for 30 seconds or just put it in your dishwasher with the dishes for a full cycle.
I have found a simple excercise to help those of us with back pain to strengthen our backs. Stand, sit or lie on your back and exhale all your breath while trying to pull your navel up and in toward your head. Hold for 10 seconds and release. Repeat 12 times. Do these as many times as you can during the day.
Please see what we are offering for a referral patient from you. Bring them on in and get your certificates.

Fall is here!
As I write, Fall will be official in just 3 days. It is beginning to feel like fall with those cooler evenings and mornings and blue blue skies. I love Fall only second to Spring.
I plan to plant some daffodil bulbs at the office and home along with some new shrubs at home. This is the best time of year for new plantings as well as fescue yards.
On another thought, here are a few helpful hints I have read about recently:
A cough is nature’s way of helping us loosen and get rid of mucous that is congesting our body but worst of all it can be a pain in the neck to sleep. A natural remedy to try is combining juice of half a lemon, 1/2 cup of honey and 1/4 cup of olive oil in small sauce pan. Cook for 5 minutes on medium high heat stirring constantly. Let cool slightly and then take 1 teaspoon every 2 hours especially before bed. If the cough becomes chronic or persistent, be sure to consult your physician.
Don’t you hate it when you get the hiccups especially at the wrong times like at church or a funeral. Here is what to try: hold your finger under your nose like it was a mustache. Press in with that finger hard for 30 seconds. In many cases your hiccups will be gone before you finish counting.
Have a crisp apple, walk under the gorgeously blue fall sky, kick a few leaves, cheer on your favorite football team. Make it a wonderful fall!

Lots of good health news!
on the near horizon for stroke care, a new mesh device not yet approved by the FDA can be placed in a stroke victim within a 6 hour window and restore full blood flow. Experimentation is now going on in some hospitals.
Israeli researchers have found the drinking unsweetened pomegranate juice and eating 3 dates unsweetened together once a day can lower stress on arterial walls by 33% and lowers cholesterol by 28%. A tasty and easy trick!
slow joggers are healthier than fast joggers. A slow jog for 1 to 2.4 hours per week extends life span while fast more frequent joggers are at pace with those who do not excercise.
Last of all , on a lighter note, my wife Kathy is an accomplished artist. She has some of her work around our office so you can enjoy on your next visit.
Stay cool and out of the hot hot sun!
